INFLUENCED
A sonic archive of the artists who raised me. This is not just a playlist—it's a sacred vault of sound. Each song, each moment, each lyric lives in my bloodstream and shaped the person, performer, and creative I am today. Welcome to the soundscape of TYE DONNELL.

MICHAEL JACKSON
The Origin. The Spark. As a child, I remember the Michael Jackson doll in my mother’s collection—the iconic Thriller outfit immortalized in plastic. I played "Michael Jackson: The Experience" on the Wii endlessly, not knowing I was being imprinted with performance greatness. "Thriller" terrified me when my grandfather played the video, but I was still captivated. His ability to embody light and shadow shaped my earliest fascination with performance, rhythm, and visual storytelling.

THE WEEKND
The Awakening. In 2015, I heard "The Hills" on my first phone—an iPhone 5s. That song was a portal: ominous, magnetic, and bass-heavy in a way that electrified me. But it was hearing "Wicked Games" at a Denver Nuggets vs. Lakers game that baptized me. I was courtside, surrounded by sound, and Abel's voice cut through everything. It was a formative moment that rewired my taste for the raw, sensual, and cinematic.

RIHANNA
The Blueprint. My favorite artist of all time. "Kiss It Better" is the single most-played track in my life. Every beat, guitar riff, and lyric is etched into me. I first met Rihanna's voice through "Rude Boy," and never let go. From Rated R to ANTI, I experienced each album like a personal season. ANTI remains my favorite album of all time: it's fearless, genreless, and spiritually encoded. Rihanna taught me to be unapologetic, to embrace my duality, and to lead with beauty, edge, and intent. Her presence in music and fashion is divine.

BEYONCÉ
The Standard. My mother was obsessed with Bey, and I absorbed that reverence early. I grew up on 4, and watched in awe when she surprise-dropped her self-titled visual album. Songs like "Party," "Countdown," and "I Miss You" became emotional landmarks. I was nine when I memorized Nicki Minaj's verse on "Flawless Remix," and no, I have no regrets. As I matured, LEMONADE became the album that crystallized Beyoncé’s impact on me—especially "Don't Hurt Yourself." Her ability to craft full-bodied, purposeful work influenced my approach to performance, identity, and visual aesthetics. Beyoncé doesn't release songs—she births worlds.

PRINCE
The Rebel Saint. Prince was a constellation of elegance, rebellion, and raw talent. His fashion. His fluidity. His command of the stage. I admired the way he shattered binaries and lived in full creative expression. My aesthetic confidence, my love for sensuality and androgyny, and my spiritual link to visual power are rooted in the magic of Prince.

MADONNA
The Disruptor. "Like a Virgin." "Like a Prayer." These were spiritual texts in my household. Madonna taught me to cross lines with purpose. To provoke with poetry. To understand that longevity is earned through fearlessness. She inspired me to be a force—not just an artist. The pop blueprint was drawn by her hand, and I study it.

BRITNEY SPEARS
The Performer. Her 2001 VMA performance of "Slave 4 U" lives rent-free in my soul. I wasn’t alive to see it live, but I relive it constantly. Britney reminded me that performance is not just vocals—it’s presence. It’s aura. Her resilience and ability to transform vulnerability into showmanship influenced how I view fame, softness, and spectacle.

ARIANA GRANDE
The Growth. I grew up with her. From Victorious to Dangerous Woman, her voice was the soundtrack of my childhood. I watched her blossom into a pop giant while I was discovering myself. "The Way" was the first single I bought with an iTunes gift card. I choreographed imaginary concerts with my brother using her songs. When Positions dropped in 2020, I was grounded and listening through an iPod Touch—yet it still changed my life. Her Netflix documentary Excuse Me, I Love You was my artistic turning point. That film lit a fire in me to take performance seriously. Ariana taught me that vocal talent and visual mastery can coexist.
ETC.
There are countless others—icons, underground gems, and voices that whispered to me through headphones late at night. But these names above? These are carved into the roots of who I am becoming. This is the sonic DNA of TYE DONNELL.
